How To Get The Most From Your InfoCenter

Toro makes a wide range of equipment, and each piece of equipment is designed for outstanding performance and efficiency. Many machines are equipped with an InfoCenter that helps operators see key information at a glance. But the InfoCenter has even more to offer, and this article will help you go beyond basic operation to use your InfoCenter for adjustments, diagnostics and more.
Info At Your Fingertips
The InfoCenter is all about providing quick access to important data. Note that different machines have different InfoCenter styles, including some with five buttons and some with three. This article will provide a general overview about using the InfoCenter. For more details on using the specific InfoCenter on your equipment, consult your Service Manual.
Regardless of your InfoCenter type, the first screen you’ll see when the key switch is turned to the On or Start position is the Splash Screen, which will show the Toro logo for several seconds. Then it will transition to the Operator Screen that provides operators with basic information such as fuel tank levels, battery charge, engine RPM, hour meter readings, oil temperature and more, depending on the type of equipment. Think of it like the dashboard on your car. It’s the typical information you’ll want to know during operation.
When you’re operating the machine, you can view the icons on the screen for troubleshooting and diagnostic help. If needed, you can reference each display icon in your Operator’s manual.
Use Menus For More Detail
You can get by just fine with the information displayed on the Operator Screen, but the InfoCenter has much more to offer. All InfoCenters have a menu that gives you access to an array of data, and the first step is to access the main menu. Typically, the main menu is accessed by using the left button on a three-button InfoCenter and the right button on a five-button InfoCenter.
Through the main menu, you can access and view specific details regarding the machine. In general, the main menu will have five sub-menus: Faults, Service, Diagnostics, Settings and About.
- The Faults screen lists electrical faults as either active or non-active, organized by most recent. If the fault is currently occurring, it will be shown as active. Lights and/or messages on the InfoCenter screen can alert you to active faults so you can investigate them.
- The Service menu includes any applicable service data, including hours, counts, backlap, and regeneration. A PIN is required to change values.
- The Diagnostics menu is extremely valuable for troubleshooting. It displays the state of the machine’s electrical components, including inputs, qualifiers and outputs. Sub-menus provide access to more details.
- The Settings menu is used to set parameters for your machine, such as maximum mowing and transport speeds.
- The About menu displays top-level information, such as the model number, serial number and software version. With a PIN, the user can view additional information on electronic control components, CAN Bus status and more.
Some high-level data is available for viewing by anyone. Other information will require a Personal Identification Number (PIN) code for access.
Again, the selection varies by InfoCenter type, but the main menu will always be the place to start for settings, service info and diagnostics. For example, on some machines, the fault data is displayed within the diagnostics option. Consult your Service Manual to see what is included within each main menu heading for your equipment.
You Have Control
As mentioned, a PIN is required to access some areas. You can use the Protected and Protected Settings menu to customize and modify what appears on the display, what’s viewable without a PIN, and more. Protected Settings help ensure that important information can’t be altered. Options vary by equipment. Consult the Service Manual for your machine to learn more about setting and using PIN codes as well as customizing display information.
