That\u0092s why the Celtic Manor Resort in Newport, Wales, is counting on Toro equipment as it prepares to host the 2010 Ryder Cup. The resort has used Toro equipment exclusively since the early 90s and recently added a number of machines to its already extensive fleet.<\/h3>\n<p><a name=\"video\"><\/a><object width=\"579\" height=\"351\" classid=\"clsid:d27cdb6e-ae6d-11cf-96b8-444553540000\" codebase=\"http:\/\/download.macromedia.com\/pub\/shockwave\/cabs\/flash\/swflash.cab#version=6,0,40,0\"><param name=\"allowFullScreen\" value=\"true\" \/><param name=\"allowscriptaccess\" value=\"always\" \/><param name=\"src\" value=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/v\/CKgnIxTGzOA?fs=1&amp;hl=en_US&amp;rel=0;autoplay=1\" \/><param name=\"allowfullscreen\" value=\"true\" \/><embed type=\"application\/x-shockwave-flash\" width=\"579\" height=\"351\" src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/v\/CKgnIxTGzOA?fs=1&amp;hl=en_US&amp;rel=0;autoplay=1\" allowscriptaccess=\"always\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\" \/><\/object><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u0093Major Event\u0094 Is an Understatement<br \/>\n<\/strong> The Ryder Cup is the third-largest sporting event after the Olympics and the World Cup, attracting a worldwide audience of over one billion. \u0093To prepare and maintain the course to the very high standards required, we need continuity of product and reliability \u0097 you\u0092ve got to have confidence in the product,\u0094 says the resort\u0092s director of golf, Jim McKenzie. His crews will be counting on Toro mowing and irrigation solutions as they prepare for the event.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Blueprint for Preparations<br \/>\n<\/strong> \u0093We have a tried and tested \u0091blueprint\u0092 for preparations \u0097 for example, our height of cuts will remain the same as for the summer for the most part,\u0094 McKenzie notes. His team will use Toro Reelmaster\u00ae 5410 mowers on the fairways, Reelmaster 3100-D mowers on the semi-roughs and Greensmaster\u00ae 1600 pedestrian mowers on the tees and approaches.<\/p>\n<p><strong>New Equipment Is Par for the Course<br \/>\n<\/strong> The 7,493-yard, par 71 Twenty Ten Course is the first in Ryder Cup history to be custom-built for the event. Following the opening of the new course, McKenzie added 11 new Workman MDX machines to his already extensive fleet. \u0093They are outstanding at moving equipment and materials around, particularly getting mowing equipment across The Twenty Ten Course,\u0094 he says. McKenzie also bought two new heavy-duty Workman HDX utility vehicles to use for topdressing the greens, spraying and fertilizer applications.<\/p>\n<p><strong>It\u0092s Getting Close Now<br \/>\n<\/strong> The Twenty Ten Course will be closed on September 6 for final preparations. \u0093Everyone\u0092s starting to get quite excited, but there\u0092s still an awful lot of work to do both on and off the course,\u0094 McKenzie explains.
