The growing event, organized by the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.golfcoalition.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">American Golf Industry Coalition<\/a>, saw 320 attendees this year. Each attendee has a passion for the organization\u2019s shared goal: leveling the playing field for the golf industry. There\u2019s a focus on highlighting the positive impact golf has on the economy and environment, its charitable side, and its health and wellness impacts. Lobbying is a major part of the event, but there\u2019s also one day dedicated to completing a service project. Annually, attendees get hands-on with equipment on the National Mall and\/or local golf courses to make a difference in the D.C. area.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">All 40+ partners within the American Golf Industry Coalition participate \u2014 from the PGA Tour to the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America to The Toro Company. Associations, architects, builders and corporate companies all play a part in the coalition, creating a well-rounded group fit to induce change.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Giving Back to the D.C. Community&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">National Golf Day\u2019s service project included maintenance at East Potomac Golf Links, which falls under the umbrella of the nonprofit National Links Trust. Their mission is to positively impact the community and change lives through affordable and accessible municipal golf.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Toro, alongside our distributor Turf Equipment and Supply Co., sponsored the East Potomac leg of the service project. Some of those people drove hours and hours to participate and give back with their time. That&#8217;s what it&#8217;s all about. Around 50 people participated in the project, using an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.toro.com\/en\/product\/Outcross-9060\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Outcross 9060<\/a> outfitted with the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.toro.com\/en\/product\/09716\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">ProCore 1298 Turf Aerator<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.toro.com\/en\/product\/09960\">ProCore 648<\/a>, a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.toro.com\/en\/golf\/top-dressers\">top dresser<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.toro.com\/en\/product\/Workman-HDX-Series\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">HD Workman utility vehicle<\/a> and more.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cOn a scale of one to 10, I\u2019d put the project at a 12. Everything went as well as I could have ever hoped. I\u2019m looking forward to continuing a relationship and coming up with a fun project again next year,\u201d says Tim Zurybida, Director of Agronomy for National Links Trust.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>The Issues at Hand&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">McKeel explains the coalition\u2019s approach to legislature; \u201cCreating change for the industry isn\u2019t a short game, but a marathon effort. We\u2019re focused on steady progress and small wins, knowing that every step we take makes a difference.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For example, the coalition is proud to have reignited the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gcsaa.org\/what-we-do\/advocacy\/gcsaa-government-affairs-blog\/2025\/03\/25\/gcsaa-welcomes-golf-caucus-co-chairs--introduction-of-h.r.-1583\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Congressional Golf Caucus<\/a>, a group of 141 congressional members who support the game of golf. The coalition also works to bring specific issues to Capitol Hill. This year, 240 individuals from 40 different states met with members of Congress to advocate for the industry. Three main issues were discussed:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">1. The PAR Act \u2013 Legislation aimed at removing certain language discriminatory to golf from the tax code. It has been reintroduced to the current administration and is steadily building co-sponsors and supporters.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">2. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.healthandfitness.org\/federal\/personal-health-investment-today-phit-act\/\">PHIT Act<\/a> \u2013 The PHIT Act is led by the Sports Fitness Industry Association and supported by the American Golf Industry Coalition. This bill would allow individuals to use their pre-tax medical savings account (HSA) toward the purchase of golf or other sporting equipment, up to $2,000 per year.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">3. <a href=\"https:\/\/sustainableagriculture.net\/our-work\/campaigns\/fbcampaign\/what-is-the-farm-bill\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">The Farm Bill<\/a> \u2013 This bill passes every five years, and the coalition is working to ensure Congress continues to recognize turfgrass as a specialty crop within it, therefore, allocating resources towards turfgrass research.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For more information on Toro\u2019s latest product initiatives and programs, go to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.toro.com\/en\/golf\">toro.com<\/a>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>National Golf Day brings leaders from across the industry together to educate elected officials on the value of golf.
