In each article, our\nintent is to quietly honor the customers, channel partners and Toro employees\nthat have all contributed to our longevity and success.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Bunker maintenance has come a long way since\nthe days of hand rakes. And today Toro offers some of the most advanced\nmechanical grooming rake solutions for golf courses. Read on for a quick look\nat how Toro mechanical groomers have evolved over the years, making bunker\nmaintenance more efficient than ever before.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>1940s:\nHand Rakes and Pull-Behinds <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Early on, maintaining bunkers, or sand traps,\nwas a more manual and time-consuming process involving hand rakes. However,\npull-behind rake attachments for Toro tractors soon started to make their\nappearance \u2014 suddenly making bunker maintenance a far less time-consuming task\nthan ever before. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"700\" height=\"406\" src=\"https:\/\/www.toroadvantage.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/article-bunkers-1.jpg\" alt=\"article bunker\" class=\"wp-image-6138\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.toroadvantage.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/article-bunkers-1.jpg 700w, https:\/\/www.toroadvantage.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/article-bunkers-1-300x174.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>1972:\nIntroducing the Sand Pro<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Toro\nunveiled its Sand Pro<sup>\u00ae<\/sup> sand trap maintenance vehicle at the Golf\nCourse Superintendents Association Convention in Cincinnati, Ohio, in 1972.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Dubbed\n\u201ca timesaver in the traps\u201d that \u201cpays for itself in less than a season,\u201d the\nfirst Sand Pro featured an 8hp cast iron engine, a three-wheel hydraulic drive,\nzero turning radius and a cultivator bar rake assembly that assisted in weed\nand debris removal in addition to raking sand. Following the Sand Pro\nintroduction in 1972, Toro developed many new attachments to help\nsuperintendents use the Sand Pro for additional applications.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"700\" height=\"406\" src=\"https:\/\/www.toroadvantage.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/article-bunkers-2.jpg\" alt=\"article-bunkers-2\" class=\"wp-image-6139\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.toroadvantage.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/article-bunkers-2.jpg 700w, https:\/\/www.toroadvantage.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/article-bunkers-2-300x174.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Adding\nAttachments for Versatility: Sand Pro 3040\/5040<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Today\u2019s\nmechanical grooming rake solutions from Toro include the Sand Pro 3040 and\n5040, which feature the exclusive Quick Attach System&#x2122; (QAS). QAS allows for\ntool-free, quick attachment change-outs of over 25 valuable attachments, making\nthe Sand Pro 3040 and 5040 extremely versatile utility vehicles. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Designed\nwith a maintenance-friendly layout, the operator seat on the Sand Pro 3040 and\n5040 can be easily lifted to provide quick access for maintenance tasks. And\nfor increased access, the side and center quarter panels are easily removable. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Additional\nkey features include a power-packed Vanguard<sup>\u00ae<\/sup> engine that\u2019s\nfuel-efficient, runs cooler and includes a fully pressurized oil lubrication\nsystem for longer life. Hydraulic power steering and steerable front\nattachments are exclusive to the 5040.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"700\" height=\"406\" src=\"https:\/\/www.toroadvantage.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/article-bunkers-4.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-6146\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.toroadvantage.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/article-bunkers-4.jpg 700w, https:\/\/www.toroadvantage.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/article-bunkers-4-300x174.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Increasing\nManeuverability and Productivity: Sand Pro 2040Z<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The\nSand Pro 2040Z zero-turn mechanical grooming rake is the perfect solution for\ndaily bunker or infield grooming. And while it doesn\u2019t offer the wide variety\nof attachments afforded by the Sand Pro 3040 and 5040, its exclusive flex\nraking system and patented \u201clift in turn\u201d feature allow you to make tight turns\nwithout leaving unraked teardrops or tire marks \u2014 helping you achieve a uniform\nsurface in a single pass. With a transport speed of up to 12 mph (19.3 km\/h),\noperators can move from bunker to bunker quickly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The\nmachine\u2019s zero-turn design also allows you to easily groom around obstacles and\nhard-to-reach areas other groomers cannot access.
