Orders are flying in for Toro’s new Reelmaster\u00ae<\/sup> 3550-D. This model combines the lighter weight of a greensmower with the speed and width of a larger fairway mower \u0097\u00a0the perfect combination for turf health and operator productivity.<\/p>\n

Light Weight = Less Stress on Turf<\/b><\/p>\n

At just 1,985 lbs in the base configuration, the Reelmaster 3550-D is the lightest fairway unit on the market \u0097 significantly lighter than comparably equipped competitive mowers weighing up to 2,600 lbs. The lighter weight provides better flotation, allowing bentgrass fairways and other sensitive turf areas to flourish.<\/p>\n

The lightweight design also makes gentle turns, and minimizes compaction and tire tracks. That means less stress on turf, especially in the hot summer months.<\/p>\n

Boosts Productivity<\/b><\/p>\n

It\u0092s tempting to choose a greensmower for a lighter footprint on sensitive, delicate turf. But there\u0092s a trade-off: Although greensmowers weigh less, they\u0092re also generally slower and cut a narrower swath than fairway units can.<\/p>\n

The Reelmaster 3550-D fills this gap. With a maximum mowing speed of 7 mph, the 3550-D is up to 40 percent faster than the typical riding greensmower. It also offers an 82-inch width of cut, compared to the typical greensmower\u0092s 59-inch width of cut. The higher speed and wider cutting swath add up to finishing the job faster, which makes a big difference in productivity.<\/p>\n

Excellent Ground Following<\/b><\/p>\n

The Reelmaster 3550-D also has five 18-inch cutting units, compared to the 22-inch cutting units on most fairway mowers. The narrower units make it easier to follow ground contours on the fairway.<\/p>\n

These cutting units are a smaller version of Toro\u0092s dual precision adjustment (DPA) cutting units, which are easy to adjust, have fewer required adjustments, and hold their adjustment longer \u0097\u00a0not to mention providing outstanding quality of cut. Optional 22-inch rear cutting units are available to achieve additional overlap if desired.<\/p>\n

Power and Traction<\/b><\/p>\n

The Reelmaster 3550-D features a 24.8 hp Kubota diesel engine with plenty of power to climb hills, even while running groomers and rear roller brushes. Smooth, turf-friendly tires are standard, as is a series\/parallel 3-wheel drive system that provides outstanding traction on wet, uphill grades.<\/p>\n
