Communication has always been a critical part of any golf course’s success. The way we communicate has evolved over time and it always seems to be changing.

With so much information coming at us from every direction, being short and to the point is a necessity — and the tools to deliver information quickly and succinctly have become more relevant than ever to golf industry professionals. So it’s no wonder that when Toro researched preferred methods of social media-style communications between peers and vendors in the golf market, customers (both old and young) said they preferred to get their news and updates on Twitter.

Launched in February 2015, @ToroGolf is a new Twitter feed specifically created for golf course professionals. Although Toro has embraced social media for years, this new Twitter handle fills a need with relevant content dedicated to the golf audience. It also provides an avenue for interested customers to provide feedback to Toro and share Toro and industry news with others.

In conjunction with the launch of @ToroGolf and to encourage new followers, the company held a contest for customers and prospects, which offered participants a chance to win a ProCore® 648. The contest closed in June and the ProCore aerator was awarded to Ryan Inglis, club superintendent of Moorhead Country Club in Moorhead, Minnesota, on September 10, 2015.

Since then, the @ToroGolf Twitter presence has continued to grow. At the time of this post, we had reached nearly 2,700 followers and posted more than 680 tweets. And we plan to keep using Twitter as a primary way to reach out to golf course superintendents and staff.
